My seven year old has been telling me about a series of films he plans to make. They feature the action hero, Slash Curtis. As far as I can tell, he's a bit like Indiana Jones, but more urban. He lives in a whole block of flats and reads a good deal. Some of his books are fake books though, containing special buttons, which activate fancy gadgets. His home looks a bit like the place the Fantastic Four live in, only bigger. He also has a country cottage.
Slash is helped in his general crime fighting by Rex, who, if he holds his breath, grows very strong, and Rex's wife, Sally, who is very good at gymnastics. They share Slash's fancy pad.
As there are to be 100 films, there is plenty of opportunity for the characters to grow. Rex and Sally will have a child, for example, Max, who will grow up to join the crime fighting team. He will be played by someone who looks like the guy who played Alex Rider in "Stormbreaker," or at least "a teenager."
There is a nemesis, yet to be given a name, but he will be played by Damien Lewis (known in our house as the guy who hangs upside down from helicopters). He has the working name of Daniel Russian (because I mistakenly thought the actor was called Daniel something, and we both knew he played a Russian in "Stormbreaker").
Not all the films will be scary, but they will all feature either a monster or a car crash, and some will include a volcanic eruption so huge that the lava will cover the whole of Russia. There will be jokes too - Rex, for example, will have an exceptionally loud snore - and moments of sadness. At the end of film 99, all the characters will be seen going their separate ways, in a scene devastating to those who have viewed all previous 98 films. However, fans will be surprised and, of course, happy when the gang are reunited one final time in the very last film.
Arthur is just a bit worried as to how he'll pull it all together, but is hopeful that when he gets to secondary school, there will be a class in film production.
